How Is a Brow Lift Performed?
A forehead lift is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia and sedation. During the procedure, different incisions are made based on your own unique brow shape and the degree of forehead laxity. Dr. Swift will adjust the location of the incision as needed if you have thinning hair or are bald.

Dr. Swift may use an endoscopic approach to your brow lift surgery. An endoscopic brow lift involves several short incisions behind the hairline. Through these incisions, Dr. Swift will insert a small camera called an endoscope to help guide him as he adjusts the muscles and underlying fat. Endoscopic surgery is less invasive than traditional open surgery and can cause less scarring.

He will then lift the forehead skin, remove excess tissue, and adjust the muscles in that area. He may also lift your eyebrows. After removing any excess skin, Dr. Swift will close the incisions with stitches or clips and bandage the area.

Preparing for a Brow Lift
You will likely have some swelling and discomfort, so it’s best to prepare your recovery area ahead of time. You may want to have ice packs on hand to minimize swelling. Stopping smoking at least two weeks before and a week after surgery will help promote healing. In addition, you may be advised to stop taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatory drugs that contain aspirin or related products as these can increase bleeding.

Brow Lift Recovery
Bruising and swelling in the affected area are very common and can last for several weeks. You’ll be able to wash your hair within a day or two after surgery and can return to work within 7-10 days. At your follow-up visits, Dr. Swift will evaluate your progress and optionally clear you for exercise and sports.

Brow lifts are mainly a cosmetic option for people ages 40-60. On occasion, Dr. Swift will perform the procedure on people in their 30s if severe wrinkling or loss of elasticity in the brow and forehead area is present.
